Daily Poem: April 12
The Shark
The Shark
This famous disembodied grin
hard as winter
and as solid
adrift
deliberate and oppositional
to land—
The comfort of silent barren space
in a great sonorous middle
big enough
to eat you bloodlessly
in one tired
undignified gulp. Her eyes
two empty rooms nothing further
from earth and warmth
hovering encased
in a landless desire.
