Daily Poem: April 28

The need for change

The need for change

As soon as you quit
running this all falls apart
can’t keep up with the magazines
mile time slower
feel three days of television
in your shins
& tops of feet
lost things

A new small bird
with a call like a lizard
is serene and away
at the ocean

They don’t even know
what a headache is
& so what hope
for the soreness in legs

The car I have been
slips and slides away off
the road
while I sit in
me with muscles
tensing
shapeless inscrutable coat
restless
like a shin splint

Tomorrow is another day

Overturn indecent table
comfort old flame
in country house & paper patterns
scatter like some insane
semaphore

Tomorrow is another day
